RE:RE:RE:Tilray: Cannabis Legalization could be sooner than expected I think the cannabis and hemp players are intently focused on beverages being the hot part of the sku market.
Tilray seems to be taking a page from the way Constellation Brands has gone with positioning themselves with breweries and distillers.
Constellation coughed up $5 billion C for a good chunk of Canopy for the pot connection with a hemp sideline. I believe that because they made their bones with beverage alcohol that they envision a future where lower calorie and sugar pot and hemp drinks will cannibalize their soft alcohol market is why they made that expensive committment.
True that Canopy already secured a deal to happen in the future with Acreage Holdings US MSO for Canopy and Acreage to merge for fast launch and Acreage is in several States with a tail to snout pot biz that would complement Constellations ambitions to be leaders for cannabinoid infused beverages on US soil.
Tilray has purchased a revenue stream on US soil which is currently alcohol, which is the surest bet for now. They already have their own grow/supply and I beleive that is also in the US where I understand they are concentating on CBD.
CBD and THC are easily interchangeable if the US clears the muddy water situation for non US players but that isn't stopping them. I think that alcohol distribution network could easily be worked to sub for a MSO in a legal environment, just as easily as they could sub THC for CBD in those drinklines.
I think Tilray is in for the long haul as I beleive that Canopy/Constellation is. They both bring market tested sku experience and knowledge that they learned in Canada and will both be formidable to MSOs if we get a level playing field.
