Its Beetaloo Sub-basin project is located in the Northern Territory, over 600 kilometers south of Darwin. The Company holds a Technical Cooperation Permit, covering an area of over 30,327 square kilometers in the southwest Karoo Basin, South Africa. The Karoo Basin contains thick, organic rich shales, such as the permain whitehill formation representing the focus of shale gas permit applications. Its Mako Production License (Mako Trough) is a sedimentary basin located in south-eastern Hungary in the mature Pannonian basin. Mako Trough includes two plays: Mako Shallow Play and Mako Deep Play.

A company exploring for onshore gas in the Northern Territory says the Beetaloo Basin has the potential to solve the east coast gas crisis. Tamboran Resources expects to begin sending gas to the east coast within three years.

One of the two main companies with exploration permits at the Beetaloo Sub-basin is hopeful the NT government will soon finalise the rules around fracking at the potentially lucrative gas prospect.
