RE:Compass Minerals cuts 16% of workforce in restructuring

RE:Compass Minerals cuts 16% of workforce in restructuringThis is old news to anyone following this closely. If I recall, certain executive tooks pay cuts as well. This confirms what I have said in the past in that Compass has been struggling with an element of impairment of its key salt assets for a while. This is also one of the rationales as to why Compass may/should be interested in GA. Whether or not they are interested remains to be seen. However, one thing for sure is that even if they are interested, Compass is not going to approach Atlas with all this noise going on in the background over the last several months. For one, unions would have a field day if a company like this announced a potential acquistion amidst a round of restructuring/layoffs. It will be interesting to see what happens into the Fall.
