RE:How much per share is 1 billion worth With approximately 100 million shares outstanding, $1 billion would be about $10 per share gross.
Taxes come out first which is either 10% or 15%. Let's say 15%, which leaves $850 million
Then the company employees get to skim off a nice chunk as a "bonus". A bonus for what? For doing nothing. They simply voted themselves free money and share holders had no say.
They get 1.28% of the first $200 million ($25.6 million), then 6.4% of the remaining ($41.6 million)
Then there are CVR holders who get their preferential amount which is 5.466%.
And don't forget the lawyers.
While the company says it will distribute the bulk of the award to share holders, it will need to hold onto a portion to keep the company in operation. That could easily be $100 or 200 million ($1 or $2 per share). Hopefully the company sells everything and folds, or someone buys their equipment and other assets for a few cents per share.
Don't forget that Venezuela already promised to appeal which would add another 18 months AFTER the sale of Citgo happens, if it actually does, which could take a long while.
I'd be thrilled to get $6 per share but wouldn't be surprised if it came under $5.
