If it was just up to Powell alone, I would agree with you but with "the gang that can't shoot straight" running the White House, there is a risk that things could get worse than you and Elon suspect.  When you add the Republicans into the equation and a divided Congress in the US, the risk that things get screwed up is heightened.

Either way - a shallow recession or a deeper one, my advice in my earlier post still holds IMO....keep some dry powder. History has shown in times like this that there will be mispricing that can be taken advantage of by people that have some cash available.
