Oncolytics Biotech Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company. They asked for a verification because it was a relatively small sample, it had wildly good results, and there was the question of whether it was an immune response or direct lysis. Remember, a virus does not have the widespread recognition and acceptance as would chemo for example. It is different, and hence seen as risky.
