Location and General Description Location:
The facility is located on both private land controlled by the Permittee and public land administer by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Mount Lewis Field Office in Battle Mountain, Nevada.
The site may be accessed by traveling approximately 40 miles west from Elko, or 30 miles east from Battle Mountain, on Interstate Highway 80, then 31 miles south on Nevada State Route 306 (exit 261), then 5 miles southeast on Lander County Road 222/Cortez Gold Mine Road.
Turn left into Cortes Gold Mine Surface Warehouse Rd, and proceed for 12 miles. Then continue on Grass Valley-CortezCrescent Road. Turn left onto Cortezs-Beowawe Road, and proceed for approximately 9 miles. General Description: The Goldrush Infiltration Project consists of infiltration of mine dewatering water at a maximum rate of 7,600 gallons per minute (gpm; equivalent to 10,944,000 gallons per day (gpd)) via rapid infiltration basins (RIBs) located in Pine Valley. The Goldrush infiltration site will contain two RIB galleries. Seven RIBs will be within infiltration gallery 1 (Gallery 1) and six RIBs will be within Gallery 2.
The pipe network is designed for a combined flow of 7,600 gpm to accommodate potential short durations for high flows. The average dewatering rate is expected to be 3,760 gpm.
