RE:$0.60 energy cost to drive 100 milesIt's my understanding that Li-ion batts deteriorate quickly even after one freeze. If I was living in a warm-climate year round, I'd be fine owning an EV, but here, north of the 49th, not so.
Now the idea of a "driverless taxi" sounds like a reasonable alternative to owning an ICE in a cold climate. If I don't have to pay for a car, insure it, park it, charge it and maintain it, etc., then I'm all for that. It'd be like getting on and off a bus--once you step off that vehicle, you're done with it. Period.
What does Tesla say about maintaining the battery in freezing cold temperatures? What are the consequences if it's allowed to freeze, say because of a power outage? And finally what will it cost to replace a Tesla battery?
