Looks like what I was suggesting. The share % change I assume is the % change in the stock price or $ dollar value of the 50 million shares? I can't be sure from what you've posted. The other possibility is plus 15% one month and -15% the next month is net zero meaning there was a reporting error that was corrected. Nothing to do with his holdings either way. The drop to 8.3% portfolio weight followed by an increase to 8.8% could be explained by the movement in the stock price with no change in the number of shares owned. If you've followed Eric for years, you'd remember he does trade, but not incrementally. Meaning he doesn't trim a little, buy a little. When he sells, he sells it ALL. Maybe not all in one day, but certainly over a week or 2. I'd be very surprised if he "trades around" a core position like a closet indexer does.
Of course if only they reported the actual NUMBER of shares bought/sold in their portfolio, all this confusion would be obviated. But they don't. They report dollar value changes.
However you can test your hypothesis by comparing price history for Mar, Apr, May vs the reported Portfolio % Holdings. You'll find the reverse.
March 9.4% April 8.31% May 8.8%
