It is government cheese (and whips) that's powering the green movement. 
As in all governemnt programs, they promised they are good for you, and get approved by under estimate the cost while overstate their benefits in order to buy vote.  It is the hypocrisy that drives me nut. Even before EVs time, federal gov'ts always give support and bail out to the Ontario auto manufacturers while penalizing and vilifying the western petroleum producers.  We all know it is the ICEV that emits the bulk of the GHG relative to oil/gas producers and yet our gov'ts keep incentivize the biggest polluter, the sector that make the ICEV.  It's like gov'ts keep telling us prostitution is bad and go arresting the johns while incentivize the hookers.
