RE:News from Forbes Gemmell about the Mexico issueThanks for posting this info Boresa. I hadn't looked too closely into this Mexico issue with the new regulations on mining. The gov there certainly seems hell bent on being anti- mining with these new draconian laws. This is definitely going to have a chilling effect on new investment inflows into Mexican mine investment.
However after reading some of the new regulations of this latest change I think it will have a more detrimental effect on new companies seeking to acquire new mining concessions imho. It doesn't appear to me that existing explorers and operating mines that already have mining concessions will be too much impacted as they will be bound by previous agreements prior to these new regulations. But from what Mr. Forbes has told you, we fortunately don't have issues with indigenous peoples and local populations that are pro-mining in the area, nor with any potential water issues. And I didn't find anything about an outright ban on open pit mining when reading about the new laws and regulations.
Having said that though, it seems the market is reacting badly to this latest developement and is whole sale selling off all Mexican mining companies both good and the bad. Its a case of sell them all off and sort them out later or to use another analogy throw out the baby with the bath water. In time the market will sort this out and the good ones will rebound imho. Its unfortunate that DSV and other good juniors with fantastic potential are caught up in this but if you are investing here for the long run I do think DSV will do very well. Governments come and go and I believe from what I read there will be an election in Mexico next year and the current president's term will be up by fall of next year. A new gov change can rescind these laws just a fast as they were suddenly enacted.
