In mining a pit is a hole where width>depth. A trench is a hole where width<depth. I will speculate that they are planning on trenching the outcrop/subcrop exposures of some of these veins. It wouldn't be terribly difficult to setup a low tonnage minimill on the property. I'm sure the provincial government would rubber stamp it.
