Is it paranoia?

Is it paranoia? There is a lot of buzz surrounding the adoption of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
Quite a few 3rd world countries either have started or are considering using it.
According to recent polls mentioned by Kitco, it appears that the idea is more popular in Canada than in the U.S.
Giving it attention in the media is probably a good way to increase interest and ultimately further the aims of media outlets.
Namely, to sell more advertising by increasing ratings.
There do not seem to be many advantages to having CBDC for the average Joe.
Ultimately, it will allow Big Brother to track every legal financial transaction, and eliminate cash.
Are people that are leary of its adoption paranoid or merely demonstrating healthy skepticism?
Personally I don't  think it makes any difference how people feel about it.
If the politicians and the powers that be decide they want it, they are going to get it, irrespective of public opinion.
It probably won't happen sooner than later in democratic countries as opposed to dictatorships, but it will probably achieve universal acceptance eventually.
Governments will not be able to resist its appeal.
