 A MAIN POINT that I stressed maybe a week or so ago is that gold has been in roughly a $300 US dollar trading range ($1750 to $2050) for exactly 2 years now. Pull up a chart. Why is this good? I think it is great as it has held up remarkably well in the face of 5% in rate hikes and a very strong dollar during the past year and a half or so. Both a strong USD and rising US rates are two of the worst things that can happen to gold in dollar terms. Yet here we are well above $1925 US. The starting point for the next rally is the highest it has ever been for gold and having survived and even thrived in the environment I mentioned above only gives me more confidence that the metal can rip higher when the USD and interest rates start to fade later this year. Agree?
