RE:Strikes
RE:StrikesYou're right MaterialsMan.
The longshoremen are on strike on the West Coast of Canada. Nothing is moving. This is the supply-chain nightmare that COVID19 brought, only this time it is a strike. It is in its second week. This is disastrous for our Canadian economy and it is inflationary.
A couple of months ago our civil servants went on strike, and boosted their wages phenomenally. These two unions will be sending a signal to all the other unions in Canada to increase wages, etc. etc.
Nobody in the government had the stomach to tell the civil servants that they were the lucky ones during the strike since non lost a day of work. Nobody had the courage to tell them that we are in the process of bringing inflation down and so their wage demands to match inflation were not justified.
Of course, the officials negotiating on the government side have their pensions indexed to inflation, so "what's the problem?", for them. Those same government workers are having a hard time coming back from summer vacations to bring an end to the longshoremen's strike.
It's maddening.
