Responsible water management & access to oilfield brines In a ground-breaking development for the North American lithium market, two Alberta-based nanotechnology research labs and Volt Lithium (VLT.v VLTLF) have joined forces to tackle the issue of responsible water management for the energy sector today as well as to expand our access to oilfield brines which present an economically viable source of lithium.
With a focus on leveraging nanotechnology, this collaboration aims to remove contaminants from oilfield brine for use in VLT's cutting-edge and proprietary DLE technology, this breakthrough represents a significant milestone for VLT in advancing its efforts to achieve commercially and economically viable lithium extraction.
VLT's innovative IES-300 DLE technology boasts exceptional capabilities with the ability to achieve significant lithium recoveries of 90% from concentrations as low as 34 mg/L as well as 97% recoveries using 120mg/L concentrations, all while maintaining commercial viability.
Notably, VLT is already on track to implement their DLE production method at its Rainbow Lake Property in the second half of 2024, following the release of a PEA this summer. With a robust foundation, the initial resource report at VLT's Property revealed a substantial lithium resource of 4.3 million tonnes with concentrations reaching up to 121mg/L.
