RE:RE:RE:RE:Kevin….
What's all this talk you're hearing about lithium batteries going dead at temps below freezing? It's called a number of things. Some people call it bullshit, I call it misinformation by the misinformed.
You can discharge your lithium battery at temperatures below freezing, even without a heater. See the thing is, that when electrons flow, they create heat. So discharging, especially in a high voltage battery like a lithium EV battery, is no problem.
There is a problem when you try to charge them below freezing. That's why I said "misinformation" above ;)
That's where the heater comes in. True, it's another drain on the battery but it doesn't mean you'll run out of juice. When you're low on gas, you stop at a gas station, right?
And yes, the need for oil & gas isn't going away next week or next decade, in the big picture. But the need for lithium/colbalt/ and other metals that the O&G lobbyist like to scare us about will go away, or at least be heavily reduced. Never underestimate the scientists or the investors behind the technology that we need to move beyond fossil fuels. Personal transportation is the relatively easy part of that transition.
Yeah consumption of oil/gas keeps increasing YoY and so does the temperature. ;)
