RE:RE:Who cares …again …Further to my last, before anybody jumps all over me claiming that ICE weighs the same or more than EV you can google to see that a battery powered EV SUV or large pickup weighs about 4200 kg while an ICE SUV or large pickup weighs about 2500 kg.
In other words a lot of more energy will be required to push a battery powered EV pickup up a hill compared to a Dodge Ram. You can figure out how much more using the equation: Potential energy = mass x elevation x gravitational constant.
So for the same increase in elevation on the same road an EV pickup will need 4200/2500 = 1.68 times more energy or 68% more energy than a Dodge Ram diesel. That's why some of us reckon that the most efficient power system with the least waste of energy is a natural gas powered fuel cell EV.
Also, the racing cars on the Formula E circuit weigh slightly less than Formula 1 racing cars. But the EV racing cars have advanced regenerative braking capabilities where braking friction is transformed into electrical charge to recharge the batteries. Most EVs on the road today have some form of regen braking systems but the literature says that they are far inferior to EV race cars.
Anyway back to bte. Canadian hydrocarbon producers should pool research money together to fund fuel cell research. Put a fuel cell in every home to generate electricity. Power your home with natural gas or blue hydrogen fuel cell. Power your vehicle as well.
