RE:Something to Think AboutIf what you say is true, it will be a huge leap in being able to contain the laws of physics, but we did split the atom as well.

The technology for high voltage quick charging is improving, but will be a long time before we see it implemented as a widespread operating system. It would also require the replacement and upgrade of the entire EV fleet including those on the drawing board, as well as the electrical infrastructure we are now building for the transition. The technology we are spending trillions moving towards will all be obsolete.

Charging stations must be located within close proximity to the highest voltage power trunk lines, and a typical 800kv transformer is a large industrial sized 3 phase transformer.

These high voltage lines and transformers are placed safely out of harms way on the highest points of the power poles for a reason. They can kill you from many meters away without even being in contact. The 800,000 volt power we are talking about here can turn a human body into vapour and crispy residue in an instant like a big bug zapper.

Going a step further, to think that there would be 800,000 volt transformers and associated power lines going to every house for fast charging coming off of 500,000 volt trunk line is too much of a reach for me.

However, it is impressive that they can charge a EV racecar in about 4 minutes in a pitstop, compared to 7 seconds now for a set of tires, and 18.5 gallons of petrol.

Still not convinced that oil will be replaced as soon as people think.

The trick of course is for charging stations with this capability to become available which will of course take time and money but it is likely the way of the future..  Hyundai and Tesla are already talking about partnering in fast charging in the US.  Musk has talked about upgrading his charging network to go to 1000kv.  At this capacity, you can charge an EV faster than you can pump gas into an ICE.

When you combine all this with the planned rollout of a solid state elecrric battery by Toyota in 2027 with a range of 1200km, the future for ICE cars becomes challenged.
