Booo Booo!!......Relieved but disappointed.Well my dear friends, what i've been "LOUDLY" harping for almost one year, since i got back into Pipestone for round 2, that there was only one way out for Pipestone and that was a total sale to a larger, better operator. And despite all my critics, detractors, and just plain ignorant folks (Not all of you of course! 8) who don't know what they're talking about in this sector.......it finally becomes a reality and i'm fully vindicated......as usual 8). The only remaining hope i have, is that i hope some of you were intelligent to recognize not only situations like this but also spot the savvy, experienved folks like myself and their "wise" advice! While totally dismissing/avoiding the misinformation or bad info/advice so many post here. So if you listened & followed to what folks like me & Ruud were saying, well done friends, you've just repeaped the fruits of your hard earned labour.....and insight.
As for the so called "transaction" or deal itself. While not the one i was expecting, both as the acquirer & price, this deal is very telling of three things. One, the actual intentions & objectives of the MAJOR holders, Riverstone & GMT. After this, it's evident both want something more, bigger in the Canaidan O&G sector. As far as Riverstone goes, this is also very telling of what their own intentions are with HammerHead. The fact thhis deal was structured in the way it was, and not an all cash deal deal, shows Riverstone's hand. Two, this deal has probably been in the works for some time, probably since last last year around the time i got back in and FULLY explains in how the stock was mercilessly walked down by those in control to "accomodate & facilitate" the transaction. Lastly, I seriously doubt that this is the last we of Strath and these types of deals, as they've been on a tear as a predatory acquirer, picking up many assets over the last few years. And now are finally back as public entity, once again, though under different leadership, a new team and totally different company. Oh....thy Pengrowth, how i have miss thee......
The actual details of the deal. As the title of my post states, though not what i expected & somewhat delflated at the levels it was sold, like Ruud, i think were waaay passed the point of having been ready to move on from this and at these prices, only wished it happend much earlier. As i'm sure not only Ruud & I are in this boat & i assume many others would have wished this as well. But unfortunately, sometimes, things have a way NOT to turn out EXACTLY they way you want them to. So for those you like me, who are disappointed at the deal but totally surpised, but unlike me want to stick around a little while longer and get something "more" out of this.... Well then friends, this is the prefect vechile to do so. From what i can read & see, at ~200k boepd, this will be an operator to revival the likes of large mid caps like CrescentPoint, Whitecap, Arc & Ovintiv. Not at the Tourmaline or Canadian UnNatural level just yet.....but getting there in time! Slowly but surely, the Canadian oil patch is transforming itself & going where it i've been saying it should for ages. Much less smaller unstable, cost iefficient entities and just a handfull of efficiently run larger operators.
With the annoucment of this deal, this finally marks the end of our journey together, as i will be selling out in the next few days and moving on to bigger & better opportunities. Not the lucrative ROI i wanted or expected, dismal to be frank as my DCA is about $3, paltry in reality, but nontheless coming out with a tiny little profit for a 9 month investment. Not as profitable as Mr. Ruud and his 3X bagger, but i'm pretty sure i'm coming out of this much better than most who have been holding for years probably sinnce the start, or worse, those unfortunate enough to buy in at the top.
So as this comes to a close, i hope i was a guiding light to some of you and my views & opinions have made you a better investor making more informed decisions. I wish you all the best and in the next week or so will stop my contributions to this forum as i move on to other things. To those who have enjoyed my posts & recommendations, and wish to continue reading & listening, as well as knowing where to place their monies after they move on from the ole Piper, then i suggest the following. If you want some rec'd of where to invest next, i'll be willing to post MY RECOMMENDATIONS, on this thread, if this post gets at least 5 upvotes. Anything less than that isn't consensus & therefore most of the "regular contributors" would not care. So if you're interested, get 5 votes for this and i'll post them.
OnWARDs we gO my friends!
