RE:Hydrogen V/S ELECTRIC TRAINS... My Family was in Asia 3 weeks this summer and we had the pleasure of travelling on one Taiwan's High Speed Rail (HSR) trains from Taipei to Taichung. The HSR trains are a Taiwanese export version of the famous Japanese Bullet trains and are quite fast.
The coach seat are arranged 2x3 like an A220/DC9/MD80 with triple the room between seats. You could have a large suitcase in front of you and still have enough room for other passengers to get around. Each car probably seats as many as a 737 and there's 12 cars per train.
To put into scale it would be like getting from Toronto to Sudbury in a little over 2 hours for an express train.
