RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:DOE latest report - Nickel My very first investment In 2017 I invested was an energy company that lost 80% of its value by 2019 from the point of my original investment. There was a hostile take-over. I ended up with maybe 30% of my original investment.
This was a case where I only kept my shares because I believed the company could pull its way out and that the macro economic factors of constrained pipeline capacity and low natural gas prices in Alberta were only temporary. In the case of he takeover I feel like I had a good company stollwn from me.
In the case of Sherritt I considered selling when it was going to default on its debt but it had already lost so much value I resisted. I also figured that just maybe the debt holders would want to make a deal considering they wouldn't really be able to sell off the assets to recoup their money especially the assets in Cuba.
Luckily those are my only two experiences of being underwater and it's definitely not a good feeling. With Sherritt there has definitely been miss management so I understand the pervasive frustration among long time shareholders. But to continue holding there must be hope for a future and a turn around in fortunes.
With that said its never wise to put all eggs in any one basket.
