Looks Like Spruce Point Was Right

Looks Like Spruce Point Was Right
Interview with Ben Axler of Spruce Point on BNN Bloomberg (shorted Nuvei) on April 18 vs. Interview with Nuvei CEO Phillip Fayer and Ryan Reynolds later that same day. Nuvei closed at 56.41 that day.

If they hadn't already done so, I suspect Spruce Point likely covered their short today.

Personally, I am always skeptical about companies that grow too much too fast via debt and/or serial acquisitions. Sometimes it can pay off (e.g. Amazon), but I believe there are likely more busts than success stories when companies go this route, especially in a rising interest rate and inflationary environment.

As points of reference:

NASDAQ 100 closed down 1.12% today.

NASDAQ Composite closed down 1.17%.

Nuvei closed down 39.43% on the NASDAQ.
