Benchmark Warns of Future Lithium Shortages, NILI's Solution

Benchmark Warns of Future Lithium Shortages, NILI's Solution

As detailed by Benchmark Minerals, the lithium sector requires a substantial investment exceeding $116 billion to align with automakers and policy objectives by 2030. This funding must be channeled into the construction of fresh mining facilities and refineries, alongside the expansion of current resources.

Even if all the planned assets come online on schedule and produce as projected, there would still be a need for an extra 1.8 million tonnes to meet the heightened demand in the most optimistic scenario.

Recognizing the need for more lithium discoveries and heightened lithium production, Surge Battery Metals Inc. (NILI.v or NILIF for US investors) is exploring and developing its lithium resources to meet growing lithium demand.

With the initial drilling of its flagship project, Nevada North Lithium, showing promising results and a follow-up drill program currently underway NILI is up 140% over the last 6 months.

As said by a Sprott Analyst who visited the project, Nevada North has significant potential for a lithium resource, with initial drilling leading to a Scalable Claystone Lithium estimate between 2.7 to 3.4 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) at 3,369ppm. This resource is comparable to LAC's Thacker Pass project.

The lithium grade discovered is notably higher than peers, supported by positive early metallurgical findings and unique geological characteristics. Environmental Assessment work is ongoing, with no major permitting concerns raised.

The project's strong team, including experienced executives from the former Millennial Lithium team, known for a successful lithium discovery and acquisition by LAC for US$490 million, further bolsters its potential.

The analyst anticipates a swift narrowing of the valuation gap with reserve peers (LAC, Ioneer, American Li), particularly with the possibility of successful drill results.
