The guy that posted the following link disagrees. You probably won't take a look at the charts and analysis but maybe you should.

What are the 1,500 PetroCan stations going to look like in ten years?
LOL, a CFA is making modeling projection on the demise of ICE and EVs to the moon. He should stick to financial comments like i've told Experienced.
It took over 90 years for ICE to displace horse and buggy to reach ~80% penetration, and this CFA dude believed 90% EV penetration by 2040. LOL.
TSX:SU Forum Post | mrbb-35585550 | RE:Early EV Adopter Era is Over | Suncor Energy Inc (stockhouse.com) Tesla sold its first EV in 2009. 2040 minus 2009 = 31 years for EV going from 0 to 90% market penetration, impressive or a make believe fantasy? Thats triple the ICE displacement rate over hay eating horsepower. If i use his modeling method, everybody will be trans gender by 2040 too. LOL
I have no qualm about having less gas stations, we have too many now already.
Every major oil companies have culedl off so many old and less efficient refineries for the last 30 years, the list is so long. Have sales of gasoline dropped since then? Same goes nothing wrong with culling gas stations to reduce opcost and to consolidate, maximize revenue (more volume/sales) on the good locations. Of course things can get distorted in favor on EV only by gov't penalty, ban, regulation, surcharges place on ICE and shoving tax dollars to promote EVs, battery plants, EV charging stations because majority of people don't want EV. However, i'm not dare enough to guess what's gov't next move because there are elections every 4 years or so.
