Nice comparison but could you please define 115,000KwH -- where does this number come from?
HPQ 15000 KwH -- where does this come from?
I guess I could go back on a search and try and find reference to these figures but seeing as you are quoting them I would think you have the info right at hand.
Please read the press release and interview Bernard stated very cleanly.
It is that amazing.
Long and strong HPQ!!!!
Just rambling on on a Sunday evening:
I guess I will just spell it out 'the source' here as others want to just send you on a search mission. It would not have been a big task to just add: 'Numbers referenced are from the August 24, 2023 news release as shown:' or some such reference.
These two paragraphs from the news release presumably intiated khogosha's post:
"HPQ Polvere holds a distinctive competitive edge through its Fumed Silica Reactor. This advantage stems from our ability to directly transform quartz into fumed silica, resulting in energy requirements as low as 15,000 kWh per tonne produced [2]. This process not only enhances efficiency but also minimizes environmental impact and associated carbon taxes [3].
In contrast, conventional manufacturing processes for fumed silica depend on 2N purity Silicon Metal (Si) as feedstock. These processes entail substantial CO2 emissions, intricate procedures, and high energy consumption (approximately 115,000 kWh per tonne produced). Moreover, they give rise to hazardous by-products like Hydrogen Chloride Gas (HCl) [4]."
I will accept khogosha's reference to $0.0645/kwh as being a Province of Quebec fact.
I'm not sure why people are reluctant to just spit out details as to where their info came from, as opposed to making it a guessing game for all those readers that don't pack around a photographic memory. But we are who we are.
I find it better to be "useful info" as opposed to just throwing out an unidentified statement which makes 'some people' wonder where did that come from? Or to send you out searching for something they have right in front of them. Maybe I'm alone in my thoughts? I will accept that, if so.
