RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Axe might have problems in Alberta thanks to the UCPnope not at all did you even read the article I suggested? First read that understand what is going on here. Once you read that we will talk. Now as far as standing up I never said provinces shouldn't. Transfer payments will be a sore point for people but that is what the whole country was built on if you don't like that fact would you advocate to common wealth states which will be far more complex to have anything done and is never considered stable nobody will want to do business in Canada if that were the case. Why do you think that despite the constant sabre rattling when it happens that people who understand stability and economics don't want to see a sovereign Quebec.
Now since we are on transfer payments and transfer of wealth what do you think about our medical system compared to that of the US? Without taxes "wealth" transfer we would have the same medical system as the US but we don't. The rich will biatch about paying too much taxes the poor will come back and say they aren't paying their fair share so nobody is happy under this scenario yet there are clear benefits for why things are what they are.
You are only as strong as your weakest links. I think someone speaking as you have should consider who has a flawed perspective.
As for the issue at hand what does it even remotely have to do with transfer payments? We are looking at the Feds putting punishing fines and penalties working from a carbon based economy system to control climate change which is by the way not unreasonable whatsoever. We kill our environment we will inevitably kill ourselves. As to how and what I feel I already gave that opinion at length I don't think I need to repeat it. But your comparison what you have raised is ludicrous sorry to say you are not even talking about what is going on and what the post is about. Transfer payments to me is a separate issue i don't see the relevance here unless you can establish one where I can say ok I got you and sure we can chat but I gave you my opinion.
When you have too many little areas each with their own rules and dealings vs a more united region you have way too many complexities and lack of stability as I mentioned. When confederation happened and each of the individual provinces entered systematically they did so with certain rights and expectations in which was agreed to and what you have is a Confederation that works under the parlimentary system in which transferance of wealth to provinces that need such monies has been all historically part of what Canada is whether people like it or not. But given the alternative this is the better choice as far as I am concerned or you can have a collapse like what happened in Russia and you see how much weaker economically Russia became. You chose the best of the two. You know what i have chosen.
