Florence Copper Newsletter Announcement Florence Copper is excited to share the news that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued Florence Copper’s final Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit.
The issuance of this permit is one of the final steps on Florence Copper’s path to commercial operations. It follows a successful public comment period that demonstrated strong support for the Florence Copper project among local residents, business organizations, community leaders, and state-wide organizations. Our thanks go to all of you who have supported of Florence Copper throughout the permitting process. Your support helped get us to this point in our project operations.
So what happens now? With approvals in place from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and now the EPA, we will mobilize to prepare for construction of the Florence Copper commercial production facility. This will expand our smaller-scale Production Test Facility, which successfully produced over one million pounds of copper on site using our innovative and proven in-situ copper recovery technology. During construction, Florence Copper looks forward to investing approximately $230 million to build the project in Florence.
During commercial operations, Florence Copper will have the capacity to produce 85 million pounds of copper per year over the course of 22 years. This will support approximately 170 direct high-paying jobs in Florence and 480 direct and indirect jobs in Pinal County, with an estimated economic contribution of $3.4 billion to the State of Arizona over the life of the project.
As we embark on this exciting new chapter in Florence Copper’s operations, our team wants to sincerely thank you for your continued support over the years.
With gratitude,
