In Quebec civil procedure, the management conference is a conference led by a judge where the latter establishes certain rules that the parties will have to respect throughout the trial1. It is held within 30 days of the convocation1.
Art. 154 of the Quebec Code of Civil Procedure specifies that: "During the management conference it convenes, ex officio or on request, the court conducts a first examination of matters of fact or law in dispute, examines the protocol of the proceeding, discusses it with the parties and takes appropriate management measures. He may, if he considers it useful, require commitments from the parties to continue the proceeding or subject it to certain conditions2.
