When to buy, sell and hold

When to buy, sell and hold

Investors should buy shares when they are bullish in the short run, and the long run. Let's define short run before we proceed. I will say anything less than 1 year would be the short run and anything greater than 1 year to be the long run. Keep in mind that this does not apply to day traders for obvious reasons.

Investors should hold shares when they are unsure what will happen over the next year but they are confident it will be higher over the "long" run.

Investors should sell shares when they are confident it will go down over the next year and very confident it will hold true a year from now.

I am currently in the "hold" camp as I'm not 100% certain shares will rise/fall over the next year but I'm very confident it will rise in the long run. I will begin to buy shares when I'm confident that the economy is in a new bull market.

I hold Reitmans in both an Resp account and my personal Rrsp account which coincides with my long term belief that the share price will rise over time.

My personal opinion fwiw.
