RE:RE:RE:RE:New Press Release - Hecla Announces Lucky Friday Update
Hey Yo and Yep,
Oh what the heck.  This HL board is like a ghost board anyway.  Buy all the HL you want, last time I checked there’s lots for sale.  Your right the Ag is still in the ground.
HL in my IMO is a large another grandfather producer of commodity silver on a large scale.  And that’s OK.  There were no injuries no loss of life at Lucky and it’s great that they are large employer at home and in other jurisdictions.  In the meantime I suspect there will be no windfall in HL share price in the foreseeable future unless silver spikes (that was my point).
HL has about 10 properties they are exploring now and about four operational mines, though I would say Keno Hill should be the 11th exploration property.  Is it a mine, well yes and no.  Is it a profitable one or a gamble, time will tell.  Hmmm since 89 it’s been a loss.  Not even the great UKHM could recover.  Then of course there was the Alexco involvement. Shareholders felt the brunt of that play of what went in short order from she’s so fine to you’ll wonder where the money went in a matter of months after nearly two decades of involvement.
According the HL
  • Restarted the mill at Keno Hill, producing 184,264 ounces of silver, with full production expected by year-end.
Was this using feed stock from the failed Alexco venture?  A lot more resources and employees will be needed.
Why HL even bothered to acquire Alexco is the question.  Remediation contract?   It’s been about a year since the acquisition and so far not much is happening?  Perhaps someone from HL could respond to that on the next news release.

Some statements on Keno Hill as per link -
As for, "Because of the environmental liabilities, nobody did any exploration on it for the better part of 30 years," he said.
What!  I hope he meant to say because of the financial liabilities, lack of profits, environment and the harsh realities of the cost of doing business.  Maybe Gaffin had it right.  LOL.

“Alexco used federal funds, Baker said, to nearly eliminate metals contamination of nearby water.
There is still a lot of contamination at Keno Hill and in the McQuesten period.  YTG and the Feds still have multi multi-million dollar remediation costs associated with the area.
He said Hecla plans to build a water treatment plant at the site, and eventually it hopes to produce up to five million ounces of gold per year at Keno Hill.”
Really?   That must be the new “Lucky Hecla” mine.

Maybe it’s a great tax write off.

To everyone unlucky enough to get through this you may have gathered that my only interest in HL is Keno Hill as many times there is serious misinformation and reports on what this area is and isn’t.
If you own HL that’s great.
