I think it's highly unlikely that he'd swindle $1/2M through a PP the day BONE ends up empty handed with no worthwhile assets. SImply because that would follow him forever. AIML would run out of financing pretty quickly if he'd stay there after that.
He might something close to a grifter but he's not dumb.
