RE:The market obviously didn tlike powell

RE:The market obviously didn tlike powellI feel like central banks are (and have for some time been) trying to 'talk markets down' in an attempt to get inflation under control without having to resort to additional interest rate hikes. If the market prices in interest rate hikes or the market removes future interest rate cuts, it causes the stock market and consumer behavior to adjust in ways beneficial to reducing inflation without causing the pain associated with further interest rate hikes.

It sucks as a stock market investor and particularly as a REIT investor however it is clearly a less harmful way for inflation to be brought down from the perspective of the average person who has interest rate sensitive debt and very little in the way of stock market holdings.
