Pretend you had alot of credit card debt and you focused on paying that off as quickly as possible. If you were taking every dime you made every month and were putting it towards your debt how much would you be showing as a "profit" each month from doing your job ?

The same holds true when companies use the money they get from selling product to pay off their debt
