RE:Financial Times: How Venezuela Lost Citgo Assuming the FT article is largely accurate, it's interesting to learn that the crucial apect of 'alter ego' relates to the Guaido opposition and not to the Maduro government as only the former is recognised by the US. This is further complicated by the fact that Guaido seems to have recently been voted out by the various opposition groups who wish to create a 5 member commission. The article suggests that Guaido et al have been less than careful with their management of the Citgo cash, which is the basis of the 'alter ego' confirmation.
There was recent talk of VZ trying to get a hearing with the Supreme Court. Who will be trying to get a hearing ? Maduro ? Guaido ? New oppsition if there is one ? I assume Maduro, as the SC will not be constrained by government policy (I hope).
It seems atm that the die is cast, the SC won't oblige, the auction will go ahead and cpmpensation will be paid, but 'many a slip 'tween cup' etc. GLA
