Long are the days when a friend of mine who was a senior guy at Nova Corp at the time had to go to a reserve because the Chief on the reserve was blockading the construction of a pipeline through the reserve. When my friend got there he noticed a satelite dish and asked the Chief what the dish was for and the Chief responded that they used the dish to pick up the Oilers games.
Turns out that my friend was a neighbour of Wayne Gretsky and so my friend made a proposal - ..."I will give you and anybody else here stocks personally signed by Gretsky if you stop the blockade." The Chief said "Give me 24 sticks and we are good".
Nova Corp bought 24 NHL sticks and my friend got Wayne to sign them. Done deal!!! These days years of delays and court challenges and millions of dollars in fees etc are the order of the day.
