Huge unknown Sc deposits in Crater Lake? The resent study summarises the geological processes and genesis of the Crater Lake Scandium deposit. The most of Sc was incoorporater in the minerals called Hedenbergite.
Based on the study, there is a clear possibility that the magma crystalllization process have accumulated a massive deposit of very Sc-rich i.e. over 2000 ppm containing hedenbergite compared to occurrences that are currently known.
