Tikray CEO has NOT performed well

Tikray CEO has NOT performed well

The continued narrative that Tilray got Hexo for $56 million is misleading and inaccurate. Tilray PAID High Trail $200 million USD when they bought Hexos debt - Tikray then spent an additional $56 million to finish the acquisition - there was no option other than to let Hexo declare bankruptcy - and get whatever they could from the bankruptcy proceedings.

no matter how you cut or spin it - Tilray paid $250 million for a bankrupt company - hardly a discount.

I continue to post that you can buy a purebred dig for $2,000 or you can buy a purebred dog with 3 legs for $500.

Hexo and the craft brewers might appear to be 'deals' - but you get what you pay for.

And why would you want a 3 legged dog?

TLRY CEO - Doing well IMHO

He picked up HEXO Corp at a HUGE discount and along with that acquired an extensive library of patents and IP that limit competitors from encroaching on the Cannabis Infused Drink Market, now largely owned by Tilray Brands.  Along with the Truss drinks he picked up other popular brands like Original Stash and the Verywell Health Products.

If you read over the QTR report you will see that he has expanded overseas sales by nearly 40%, that market may actually open up to more and more sales on a shorter timeline than that of the United States.  He also scored 8 breweries from Budweiser.  You think your last three months have been busy, try doing what Irwin Simon accomplished.

On the note about compensation for CEO’s, I realize many can’t figure out why they get paid so much however the simple fact is that these guys need to be something of a Subject Matter Expert on the products and services their companies provide but also need to have a strong business background combined with working knowledge of how the markets work and where the trends lie in the future.  Individuals with these unique skill sets are few and far between, combine that with the work hours necessary to perform the role you are getting down to “not many” who would sign up for it, unless the compensation was attractive enough.

If you want to be a CEO yourself, go ahead and apply for the job the next time you see such a job posting listed.  See if you have what it takes to qualify for that level of compensation.  I will be wishing you the best of luck with it.
