RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:No One Wants To Talk About This Stock Hey Dib
Can never be too sure as we have had a few unexpected major cuts like ALA, IPL, and AQN.
Not that I would call them stalwarts but there sure has been a large number of REIT divy cuts including 3 that we had owned - D.UN, AX.UN, and HR.UN. Luckily we didn't own any of the many other cutters.
The REIT divy cuts and lack of divy increases is why we don't own any REITs anymore. From 2011 to 2021, we owned between 6 and 10. We had quite a few take-overs (for a very nice profit), sold some in 2022, and then the last 2 earlier this year.
We also never invest for the long term in oil & gas producers because of their divy unreleliability.

These stalwarts would cut off a limb before any div-cuts. Lesson learnt many moons ago when Trans Canada Pipe created havoc for themselves. There are other available options, asset sales, employee cuts etc.
