RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:US may deploy second carrier to Israelliljohnny....good post
Here are some thoughts on this...
1....neither Saudi Arabia or the Gulf arab states are likely to intervene military in a conflict between Hamas and Israel. They may covertly provide them with money and/or try to get supplies to them. In the specific case of Saudi Arabia, as I mentioned in an earlier post, MBS is not a fan of Hamas and some of his closest advisors are openly hosyile towards Hamas.
2...in the case of Iran, first off they are not Arabs and so they see Hamas as pawns to assist in the geopolitical aspirations. Additionally, there is no cultural or even historical kinship there. In fact the reason that Iran is an Islamic state at all was that Sasanian Empire (Persian) was conquered by Arabs following the death of Mohammad and after much resistance was converted to Islam in the early to mid 7th Century.
3...The other thing about Iran is that we have seen in recent years a great deal of disent which has been quelled by the Iranian leadership. Significant direct involvement by the Iranian leadership resulting in losses by the Iranians would put the current leadership in significant peril which IMO is a strong deterent for them to do anything but passibly be "sheet disturbers".
When you look at it from this perspective, it is highly unlikely that a second carrier group would actually be employed in conflict in the Middle East
That said, the Ford battle group is a formidable capacity in its own right. I have been told by my General friend that this battle group is providing invaluable intelligence/surveillance capacity to the Israelis to track down the Hamas leadersip and track down the whereabouts of the hostages. Further, Seal Team Six is training and preparing for possibly engagement in a hostage recovery and the Ford batle group would provide the necessary logistical suppport in addition to the Israeli capacity which is well known to be as good as or perhaps even better than Seal Team Six.
