RE:RE:PLANNED War: US ATTACKS Syria If HEZBOLLAL Attacks Israel ?With all due respect my friend, my point is to assess the impact as investors of things such as war.
In the case of WWI, the US closed the market for 4 months at the start of the war on July 30 1914. They didn't do the same at the start of WWII. They did close for a few days after 9/11. So they are unlikely to close if there is a Middle East conflict.
More to the point as investors, the day WWI started the DOW was at 76. By the end of 1915, the DOW was at 99, a gain of 30% in about a year and half. For WWII - the DOW actually rose 10% the day Hitler invaded Poland and fell about 2.5% the day of Pearl Harbour!! From the beginning of WWII to the end of the war, the DOW was up 50%.
Will it be different this time if there a major war in the Middle east?
Who knows?
But the balance of probabilities is that investors are better off dealing with economics and business to make decisions and not speculate on whether there might be a war or not....and that is my point and where the time I spend looking at my investment is spent.
So I will not concern myself speculating about whether there will be a war or not and focus on the things I mentioned in my earlier post.
