>>>Notice of Determination on Time Limit Extension Request Ottawa – April 6, 2022 – On April 6, 2022, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) granted an extension to the three-year time limit for Suncor Energy Inc. (the Proponent) to provide the required information or studies described in the Final Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines, and any subsequent modifications, for the impact assessment of the Suncor Base Mine Extension Project. The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the Proponent that the time limit be extended by 9 months. The Agency made this determination taking into account the Proponent's request to ensure it has sufficient time to align the Project with its strategy to be a net-zero company, to assess Project improvements and technology and feedback received from Indigenous communities and stakeholders, as well as to review government initiatives such as the 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan. The new deadline for the Proponent to provide the required information or studies described in the Final Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines, and any subsequent modifications, is February 25, 2025.
