LNG Canada phase 2In Kitimat all major equipment is on site and start up is scheduled for 1st quater 2025. At present there isn't a molecule of NG on site. They're probably about 90% complete, thats where good news ends.
I had mentioned before that BC produces app 6 bcf per day natgas and that LNG phase 2 would take 1.8 bcfpd. Meaning that BC natgas production would increase to 7.8 bcfpd for phase 1 and 9.6 for phase 2. However since Shell and the rest of the consortium have really dragged on final approval for phase 2 I'm getting a little concerned. The entire history of Liquid Natural Gas in BC ( the entire industry, not just the Kitimat site) is paved with announcements and cancelations. In 2025 when LNG Canada starts producing the States will have an LNG capacity of app 22 bcfpd, and they started a couple of years later than us. LNG Canada has delayed a final decision until 2025, so while decisions have often been delayed the longer it gets delayed the worse it looks. Anyway the surge of well completions I anticipated may not happen until 2027. And of course there is so much going on in the world that Phase 2 cannot be guaranteed at all.
