My guess is that they obtained sidewall codes after each hole section was completed. Obtaining a full diameter core would be overkill and far too costly:,
Sidewall cores, in conventional clastic reservoirs, can easily be evaluated in a couple months for fluid quality, saturation, porosity, permeability, etc.
An obvious benefit is that the results obtained from the sidewall cores (like porosity) can be used to help calibrate the well logs. Real benefitical expecially when correlating with Kawa.
But end of day, this drawn out process is just a joke at this point. Unless they went with a complete joke of a lab, it does not take this long to do analysis.
