Tilray Brands - German Cannabis Legalization Update

Tilray Brands - German Cannabis Legalization Update

Cannabis:  The Bundestag discussed the planned partial legalization of cannabis for the first time, which is due to come into force at the beginning of 2024. The Union and AfD called on the traffic light to abandon their plan. The Greens and FDP reported that some points still needed to be improved and that the draft law was too bureaucratic. After the first reading, the Cannabis Act (CanG) was referred to committees. An expert hearing in the Health Committee is planned for November 6th. spiegel.de (Milena Hassenkamp) reports. LTO (Hasso Suliak)  brought a preliminary report.

spiegel.de (Julia Kppe) summarizes the content of the federal government's draft law, addresses the criticism of the planned legalization and draws a comparison with the situation in other countries.

The taz (Susanne Schwarz) points out that legalizing cannabis could have consequences for global warming because of the enormous energy requirements of the plantations.
