There are very good cannabinoid companiesthat will be bargains for the big fish to swallow the little fish.
Lots of companies have made good, calculated and serious effort at developing skus that are getting hammered by too much supply and too much competition.
Good products speak for themselves and will garner sales and consumers and become brands but there is another category that doesn't get talked about much and that is the good enough category where consumers will flock to to save money, if the supply is consistent.
That category has allowed the black market to continue to thrive along with the lack of will of law and policy makers to reign it in.
Cannabinoid infused beverages got a lot of attention from beverage alcohol and also energy beverage guys and some flirted with it but backed off, probably because they have a better finger on the pulse of where law and policy makers are headed.
The manufacturers and investors realized that edible consumption initially was slow to react and dissipate which is where most people got in trouble by doubling or tripling the amount to the point they were overindulged when the effects kicked in.
Progressive potpreneurs solved that problem by developing rapid onset and offset molecular tweaking to get cannabinoids to react in the same time frame as already familiar alcohol.
I still believe that cannabinoid infused beverages can win a significant share of the light alcohol market by delivering a different buzz with a lot less calories by not including alcohol and calories from the amount of sugar added to make the alcohol.
Magical! Not really but the North American consumer market is getting more health conscious and fitness orientated and the soft alcohol companies are listening to their consumers and the new cannabinoid subbed beverages bring a familiar buzz and a lot less calories.
And the CBD versions have found a following from veterans and others who want an alternative to prescription opiates, muscle relaxants and ssri's that are currently used and have lots of side-effects including addiction and suicide.
Tilray is ahead of this game but obviousley feel that sorting out the legalities could take some more time but are still positioning themselves with beer companies and alcohol companies which I believe can be switched quickly to cannabinoid beverages when the lobbyists make their point and those that call the shots on pot and hemp rewrite the rules to welcome a safer vice.
Canopy built a state of the art bottling facility for cannabinoid bottling skus and they built it with overcapacity so they could also bottle competitors cannabinoid infused beverages.
It seems like they have mothballed it to save money along with a lot of other divisions and people but STZ shook the whole pot industry to life when they jumped on board with Canopy, presumable for a bright future with beverages.
Canadian politicians screwed up the rules like only politicians can for cannabinoid beverages which is why the LPs are looking to the States to get it right and relaunch these skus that they studied on and invested heavily in.
I have to believe that some of our LPs bring a lot to the equation also and why wouldn't some US interests not be eye-balling us as leaders in the industry.
Canada launched and screwed up the rollout of cannabis. Hopefully the US goes to school on our mistakes and fixes them in their own rollout.
The States shouldn't squander this opportunity for a newly legal, safer vice to alcohol.
A US greenrush, done right will be an exciting, profitable time when the law of supply and demand is corrected.
Do your due diligence. Personally, I think some of the serious potpreneurs are scraping along the bottom, pricewise and a better time to invest than my last buy in.
