China has been exporting more than just cars to Europe and the world for a good while now; it's nothing new.
What is, however, somewhat newer is the rush for Europe to join the U.S. in hurling protectionist and clearly anti-competitive measures in China's way, doing so in order to seek to permanently damage the very economy meant to provide for and sustain the needs of 1.4 Billion Chinese citizens and the socioeconomic interests important to China and the world's other member nation states, see the BRICS ++++++++++.
Keep in mind what should actually make North American and all other EV manufacturers very nervous is if China elects to perhaps "in a quite timely fashion" temporarily halt all shipments of every kind of natural graphite and graphitic material products to certain specifc member nation states, e.g. U.S. ; and then to concurrently make things immensely much more dangerous for the U.S.economy and the U.S. intent to escalate and sustain it's global warmongering ways, China could concurrently require that the currently targeted graphite and graphitic material products can only leave the country as comprising a intended "fisnished" graphite and/or graphitic material product".
The U.S. Inflation Reduction Act ("IRA") was long ago formulated, fashioned and more recently enacted into law and incrementally deployed as a specific "weapon of mass economic destruction" aimed most specifically at China, with the intention to utterly destroy the very economy meant to provide for and sustain the needs of 1.4 Billion Chinese citizens.
Keep in mind that in seeking to utterly destroy the Chinese economy at every turn, every day and in every way, the U.S. and it's allied Western world member nation states have made their respective bed; and if they keep goading China toward initiating the very kind and quality of "in kind" response to the very fabricated weaponization of the U.S. Infalation Reduction Act ("IRA"), China will make sure the U.S et al can sleep in their self-made disasterously impacted economic bed.
By the way, don't presume to know what Elon Musk most certainly knew before he and his Tesla jewel had been saved by the Chinese Government from going over the precipice and straight down into the annals of history as the company that just didn't make it to the launch of the model 3.
Tesla actually having the Shanghai facility and all else that immensely followed for Both Elon Musk and for Tesla's fortunes thereafter is owed to the Chinese Government; and if Elon Musk even attempts to suggest otherwise, the house of cards could come crashing down about him qicker than he can say something absolutely as stupid as some of the kind of things he does say and/or do at times.
