road closures persist/economy at a standstillWe're still blocked from all sides. My employees are laid off as we can't get to any jobsites. We can't get materiales in from Panama City.
There is no fuel at the gas stations, luckily, we filled up all of our vehicles last week.
I'm going to go to the nearby villange today to see if I can get some construction materials.
Why am posting this to a FM board?
Because this is Panama. The country is closed, and the protestors are winning.
No one is speaking in favour of mining, so that part of the message is not getting out.
Social networks only talk about the "Canadians making a disaster in our country"..and how the mine is a huge scam, screwing over the people. RT (Russia Today) has anti-Canada propaganda on full blast, as do many anti-capitalist outlets.
This referendum is a lost cause. I can't see how FM can keep ongoing operations in Panama.
As a long time resident foreigner, I tend to stay out of local (panamanian) politics, but I think a huge mistake is being made.
