It begins and ends with the USD and thus the FED. Gold is priced in USDs world-wide, so as long as the USD remains strong relative to other currencies, the price of gold won't do much as it will cost more Euros / Yen / Pounds Sterling, etc. to buy an ounce of gold at the same USD price. Higher prices in the local currency = less demand..

Also, are people forgetting that US total debt has been climbing at a rapid pace since 2008 and so has [url=https://www.google.com/finance/quote/.INX:INDEXSP?sa=X&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwjb7qvhwLuCAxVQAHkGHXdyBv8Q3ecFegQIKBAX&window=MAX]the S&P 500[/url]...?

Sure, the price of gold could jump much higher than its all-time high of $2,075 and maintain that higher price over the next 12 months, but I think it's just as likely that it doesn't.
