RE:RE:Before I Would Add Shares Of GENM I Ask MyselfNickel mines have palladium & platinum as byproduct. No matter how low the price goes, they keep producing & selling because the AISC is coming out of the nickel, the Pd Pt are extra, or almost free. So there won't be any reduction in supply from them. We are already below the AISC for palladium in South Africa & USA. I am seeing AISC of $1750 for Sibanye at the Stillwater MT mine. Sibanye is cutting production of Pt & Pd in their South Africa mines. I don't see numbers in a quick search but I believe their AISC in those mines is ~$1000. It's a disaster for all PGM miners. Russia can sell at a profit at these prices, & can increase supply if there were a deficit. But there is a predicted surplus of both metals for '24. Its not looking good for anyone in PGM. Sibanye has been earnestly seeking to get in to Cu, Ni, Li, & Zn & out of Pt, Pd, & Au. Now we see why, they were right. Pt is used for lots of things in industry, & might expand rapidly in demand for hydrogen vehicles. But Pd is an auto exhaust metal. When automakers switch to Pt as a substitute to Pd in converters, the demand is destroyed for Pd & doesn't come back. A copper mine can get built. A Pd mine? If Cu prices go high enough, they could pitch Marathon as a copper mine with Pd byproduct to financiers. But we would need a lot more than $3.70 copper.
